I am concerned, listening to yesterday’s statement from the Deputy Prime Minister on Our Lucaya as no doubt he implied that Our Lucaya will open soon as soon as the exchange of contracts is completed.
It is well known that the newer of the properties The Our Lucaya has quite a lot of remedial work to be completed as the hurricane left a lot of damage to the roof and subsequently with leaks to floors below.
Let’s not get too enthused – yes we are pleased that we hope the sale will go through and in as short a time frame as feasible refurbishment – repair re-equipping will happen all of which will cause spending and work prior to opening which even the most conservative suggests it will be in 12 months. The Freeport people need the truth .... Vain unsubstantiated promises are useless in fact they hurt as there is serious suffering in Grand Bahama.
Let’s hope...Freeport needs a break it has been a long long time coming.
