POLICE in New Providence are asking the public for help in solving a string of armed robberies, two of which occurred Friday at a fast food restaurant and on a jitney.
In the first incident, shortly after 3pm Friday, a man armed with a firearm entered a fast food restaurant on Tonique Williams-Darling Highway, held the employees at bay and robbed the establishment of an undetermined amount of cash before running into a nearby residential area.
Hours later, shortly after 10pm, two men armed with firearms held up the driver and passengers of a public service bus while in the area of Bacardi Road, and robbed them of cash and other items. The thieves fled the scene on foot.
Shortly before 9pm Saturday, a gunman entered a liquor store on Carmichael Road and held up employees, police said. He robbed the business of cash before running in the direction of a nearby residential area.
Meanwhile police in Abaco are searching for a man who robbed a woman of cash and personal items. The incident occurred shortly before 11am Friday when a woman was reportedly robbed of cash and personal items by a man armed with a knife, while at a parking lot of a business on Fire Road in Abaco. The thief then fled on foot.
In other crime news, police in New Providence arrested two men and a woman after they seized an AK-47.
Shortly before 4am Sunday, police were in the Victoria Avenue area, acting on information, when they searched a 2015 Kia Sportage. Officers found the high-powered weapon and 17 rounds of ammunition.
The three people were then arrested and are expected to be charged in court this week.

• A MAN is dead after a boating accident on Saturday, police said.
Shortly before 3pm, a man was diving at Clifton Pier in an attempt to remove a hose that was between a vessel and the dock.
According to police, due to the rough sea he was pinned between the boat and the dock. He was later pulled from the water, but with serious injuries.
Paramedics were called and tried to revive him, however, he was pronounced dead a short time later.
