A PAIR of Bahamian baseball players have received midseason accolades and were recognised by their respective leagues as MiLB All-Stars.
Lucius Fox was named to the Florida State League's Southern Division All-Star Team while Jazz Chisholm was named to the roster for the Western Division in the Midwest League's All-Star Game.
Fox has excelled in his second year with the Charlotte Stone Crabs and the 20-year old shortstop continues to show flashes of brilliance that has him ranked as the No. 7 prospect within the Rays organisation.
In each of his appearances this season, Fox has hit leadoff with a .296 batting average and a team leading 12 stolen bases. Fox has totalled 56 hits, third on the team, and also has an OBP of .373, .738 OPS, slugging .373 with 69 total bases, one home run and 17 RBI.
The Florida State League All-Star Game takes place Saturday, June 16 at 6:30pm at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida.
Fox was one of six Stone Crabs named to the roster.Last season, Fox was selected to represent the World team in the 2017 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game during MLB All-Star weekend and drove in an RBI in the loss to team USA. The Futures Game showcases the minor league during the MLB All-Star week festivities.
Fox was assigned to the Stone Crabs in July 2017 after spending the previous 77 games with the Bowling Green Hot Rods of the Midwest League at the Single A-Full level.
Meanwhile, Chisholm will also make his second All-Star game appearance of his young career.
The Midwest League All-Star Game is scheduled to be hosted at Cooley Law School Stadium in Lansing, Michigan, on Tuesday, June 19.
The 20-year-old shortstop was one of five members of the Kane County Cougars selected to the midseason classic.
In his return from last season's injury, Chisholm leads the Cougars with a career high seven home runs and is third overall with 45 hits.
He appeared in 44 games thus far for the Cougars and in 177 at bats, he is hitting .266 with 22 RBI, 12 doubles, two triples and stolen bases.
Chisholm has an on base percentage of .333, slugging percentage of .475 and OPS of .808.
In his rookie season, Chisholm was named to the annual Pioneer League vs. Northwest League All Star Game as a member of the Missoula Osprey.
