The graduates of the L N Coakley High School Class of 2018 were commended for their choice to attend a worship service and thank God for allowing them to reach this academic milestone.
The students visited with Rev Stephen Smith, along with his wife Krivoy Smith, and District Education Officer for the Ministry of Education at the Ebenezer Union Baptist in Exuma for their end-of-year thanksgiving service.
The school's principal, Don Barr, said this graduating class is remarkable and has demonstrated perseverance in achieving greatness in alignment with the school's motto, "We Build for Tomorrow".
He said that despite a few setbacks encountered in a few of the students' lives, they remained focused to finish the course and graduate.
District Superintendent Pamela Gorte of the Ministry of Education congratulated Principal Barr on his service to the high school and encouraged the students to always keep God first and to follow the precepts in the Bible.
The graduates were accompanied by proud parents, teachers, guardians and other loved ones.
Rev Smith told them that they are no longer children but young adults and must assume their responsibilities with diligence and consistency as they undertake further studies or enter the workforce.
The Ministry of Education's theme this year was "Understanding the Whole Picture and Imaging the Finished Results."
