A large quantity of illegal ammunition has been discovered buried on a beach in South Bimini, police reported.
Although no arrest has been made, officers are being commended for the excellent work in the discovery and seizing of some 500 rounds of ammunition.
According to reports, shortly after 8pm on Monday officers acting on information went to a beach area where they found a cooler buried in the sand. On searching the cooler, they found some 481 rounds of 7.62 rounds of ammunition and one .40 drum magazine; two black .9mm magazines, two 7.62 magazines. All the items were taken into custody.
Police inquiries continue.
