Just a few sentences so as to share my opinion and feelings on this marital rape issue. I think that the government should never have started a debate on such a holy and consecrated matter.
Neither should have sugar coated or ‘water down’ this marital Bill to make it seem all right to become a law that is acceptable in The Bahamas.
Either it is rape or it is not rape between a man and his wife when the sexual act is carried out by either of the partners without the so-called consent of the other.
I see this marital law as an attack on the well functioning of any union, and may cause real trouble in Bahamian marriages eventually, and can pave the way to much unhappiness to all couples concerned.
It seems that such a law mainly serves in criminalising all marriages, which is a serious thing, for marriage is of God.
What should be given the number one priority, is a mandatory pre-marriage counselling of both parties together, and including the matter of when sex and such related matters are done.
Both sides should not be forced by the law of the State to control their private and personal lives in such a most Godly and holy union, and where all parties are also matured and responsible adults; for otherwise this Bill can deal a death blow, disharmony and confusion to all marriages and the family.
Many may also become more reluctant in getting married as well.
I hope this marital bill can in some way be discontinued permanently, but not merely sugar coated by the government and few religious leaders so as to go into effect.

You need to start reading up on all the International Treaties that The Bahamas has agreed to at the United Nations. I think you will find the answer there.
This has something to do with compliance of something we already agreed to do.

The marital rape issue is a quintessential neo-liberal overture of the so called democratic West – whereas ‘ to further seemingly give women equal rights – an equal right women has had since the beginning marriage – a right that has generally been skewed by men ‘ who now seem to think that this marital rape issue will empower women further away from men traditional mindset of superiority over women. A man is not superior to a woman – nor is a woman superior to a man ‘ he is only a degree ahead of her in responsibility within the family ‘ it does not mean she cannot be leader of the nation.

Again. No one understands that God even predicts that marital rape will exist back in his days and it will still go on now. My thing is, God knew this was going to happen. Why do the Christians deny the fact? Humanity's dark ambitions tend to create such things. Nothing's ever fine, even marriages.
What they don't want you to know better is because the Roman Catholics wanted domination over the weak. Women were the first victims of religious dogma and subjugated to abuse. The Catholics had power with the kingdoms of Europe and with the Pope. It's typical of these types of people to mold Christianity into a weapon against others around the world. Marital Rape exists no matter what, God predicted this outcome and there's no denying it. If you are, then you're fooled into the hands of tyrants.
