‘Stop making excuses’ is one of the key pieces of advice that success coach Sherrell Storr doles out regularly. And she has written a book that emphasises this approach to life. Her new book, “You Are a Product”, also promotes self-refinement and recognising one’s innate talents.

Sherrell said it was when she recognised that she was already equipped with all the tools necessary to live a satisfying and successful life that everything changed for her.

She told Tribune Woman that she stopped making excuses, started refining who she was on the inside, took control and started living the kind of life she wanted, which includes being an internationally sought-after success coach and business strategist.

Today, she is often asked to appear as a keynote speaker at conferences and other events, both at home and abroad. She is the CEO of Magnetic Success Coaches, which specialises in coaching, personal and corporate training. She also runs Global Executive Management Services & Concierge, a management service provider.

But her success did not just occur by happenstance. Over the course of several years Sherrell made strategic and calculated decisions to achieve her goals, some of which she shares in her new book “You Are a Product”. The book will be officially launched next month during a special invitation-only event.

In “You Are a Product”, Sherrell talks about self-refinement as the path to success, while also encouraging readers to use their innate abilities to attract opportunities.

Additionally, the book speaks to “viruses and cures of your mind” and addresses the importance of relationships and how chasing money is not the secret to becoming financially successful.

“The book was inspired 13 years ago while doing the official prayer at a groundbreaking ceremony for a hotel in Grand Bahama. Without warning, as I was praying, I said, ‘Lord, always help me to remember that I am a product’. It was something I had never said or believed before that moment, but after praying people wanted to shake my hand and know who I was and expressed how profound my prayer was,” she said,

“Meanwhile, I was still shocked by ‘I am a product’ and wanted to know what it meant. In that moment I began to realise through divine inspiration that no matter what I did or where life took me, I was a product and everything I did was a success or failure as a direct result of me and nothing else. Being the superior product that I was designed to be is what people ultimately trust or are attracted to, if we seek to refine ourselves as such.”

Before achieving the success she envisioned for her personal life, Sherrell said she faced her share of challenges. In the midst of difficult childhood, Sherrell said stayed very active in school and attended church to escape the struggle that was her reality.

“I was blessed to survive and thrive. Became first lieutenant governor for Key Clubs in district 22, then first female president for the Kiwanis Club of Eight Mile Rock. First director of the Small and Medium Enterprise Division of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce. Being a trailblazer is who I am. Excuses I do not make,” she said.

And as someone who makes no excuses she wants to encourage her readers to do the same thing, to let go of everything that could potentially be keeping them back.

“It was important to share this book with readers because so many people are lost, unhappy and unfulfilled. They are chasing ideas and using great effort to do things that do not guarantee success, and I want people to be successful by knowing what it takes. I believe more successful people equates to happier and healthier families and these families create a better society,” she said.
