Macedonia Baptist Church will its celebrate 52nd anniversary on Sunday, May 27. A special anniversary service will be held at 4pm when a number of churches will participate. The guest speaker will be Rev Trajean Jadorette, pastor of New Covenant Baptist Church.
The theme for the occasion is: "Prosper and Be in Good Health." The scripture text is taken from 3 John 1: 1-4. A number of activities have been planned to commemorate the event.
On Monday, May 21, at 7.30pm, a financial strategy session will be held with Minister Laverne Nixon, wife of the senior pastor, Rev Hartman Nixon, who will be the facilitator.
On Wednesday, May 23, at 7.30pm, a physical fitness theory session will be conducted. Renowned discus/shot put thrower Bradley Cooper, along with physical guru Jackie Adderley, will address the topic: "What to do to stay in shape."
On Saturday, May 26, at 7am, a free-for-all walk-a-thon will take place. The route will take competitors from the church on Bernard Road, west to the Village Road round-a-bout and return east back to the church. Special prizes will be presented to the winners in the men's and women's under-15, under-20, under-30, under-40, under-50, 50-and-over, as well as the and pastors and ministers categories. Breakfast will also be served to all participants.
Before the anniversary service on Sunday, a one-hour worship service will take place at 11am.
Rev Nixon is the third pastor of the church that was first established on May 27, 1966 in the Fox Hill community. The associate pastor is Rev Ernest McPhee.
