International speaker and author Sharon Jaynes once said, "Successful mothers are not the ones that have never struggled. They are the ones that never give up, despite the struggles."

Rev Stephen Smith and his wife Krivoy, together with Ebenezer family in Exuma, honoured those women that Ms Jaynes was speaking of as they celebrated Mother's Day during their worship service last Sunday.

Rev Smith spoke of a mother's great compassion and love for her children. He said that a good mother will always be there for her children no matter the circumstance. He also encouraged children to take good care of their mothers and not to abandon, disown or disrespect them, especially in their old age. Children should find delight in taking care of their elderly mothers rather than leaving them in a nursing home, he added. "It is your responsibility and not that of the government."
