Singer Karrington McKenzie, who has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, is bringing together some of the most talented Bahamian gospel acts for a special fundraising concert tomorrow night.
The "Lord Over My Life" concert will be held at Golden Gates World Outreach Ministries beginning at 7.30pm. It is being hosted as a benefit concert for Mr McKenzie, who is facing mounting medical bills after being diagnosed with cancer of the lymphatic system in 2015.
The event will feature ministry through music and dance. Performers include Sammi Starr, Tamika Taylor, Najie Dunn, Edison Sumner & VOP, V-Mac, Shaback, Keith Jones, Anna Calixte, Davian Chase, Latasha Taylor, NU Voice and others.
The highlight of the event will feature the release of Mr McKenzie's new single, "How Awesome is Our God", which is the lead single from his upcoming EP that will be released this Fall. The single was produced by Victor Johnson and written by Travis Edgecombe.
"God has been so faithful despite what I have gone through. I am here today because of Him. I am a living testimony that God can do the impossible, and if I can touch someone's heart or change someone's life through singing, then I will do it," Mr McKenzie told Tribune Religion.
He said they are hoping to meet the target goal of $5,000 from tickets sold for the concert.
For those who are unable to make the concert but wish to still assist, there is Karrington McKenzie Go Fund Me account.
A medical cookout will also be hosted on June 9 at the Western Esplanade.
