Bahamian group in new chinese deals

A Bahamian group has signed two more Chinese agreements in a bid to promote agricultural development in this nation and the wider Caribbean.

Bahamaren, which unveiled a modular housing deal with another Chinese entity just two weeks ago, announced it has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Beijing Kingpeng International Agriculture Corporation and China Overseas Agricultural Development Alliance.

The company said its Chinese partnerships will improve agriculture efficiency and affordability in The Bahamas and wider Caribbean through increased use of innovative technology.

It added that the MoUs will facilitate the introduction of affordable greenhouse technology, artificial intelligence and machinery into this nation, and help develop solutions for greenhouse farming, poultry farming, dairy farming, husbandry technology and AI technology.

Bahamaren said the focus on greenhouse technologies will boost agricultural productivity, helping to reduce The Bahamas' food import bill and improving food security, while also leading into the development of agro-processing industries.

Kingpeng International is Chinese state-owned greenhouse company that exports this technology and horticultural equipment to more than 50 countries, including the US, Canada, Russia, the Ukraine, South Africa and Australia etc.

China Overseas Agricultural Development Alliance is a co-operative, founded by 19 Chinese agricultural enterprises. Its members are involved in agricultural production, including agricultural research, exploration planning, design, production, engineering construction, storage, logistics and finance.
