SYDNEY Clarke and Jacobi Bain continue their successful run through the ITF Goombay Splash Bowl to highlight play from Bahamian players on day three.

Both players advanced to today’s semi-final with wins yesterday at the National Tennis Centre.

Clarke, the top seed in the Girls’ Main Draw, won 7-5, 6-1 over sixth ranked Ashley Vielma of the United States. She will advance to face Madison Smith of the United States today.

The other semi-final will feature a pair of Americans, second ranked Nicole Kiefer against Leyden Games.

Bain won his second consecutive three set match when he defeated Dan Pergel of Canada 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-3. Bain will face No.8 Riley Odell in the semi-final.

The other half of the bracket will feature No.4 Bruno Kuzuhara against Derek Raskopf, both of the United States.

Bain was also successful in doubles play, teamed with William Kesterson as the third ranked team in the tournament.

They defeated Pergel and Mattia Marco Mauriziano Abumohor of Chile 6-2, 6-4.

Anthony Burrows and Eduardo Sanchez-Carrion of Canada were eliminated by the top seeded Odell and JC Roddick of the United States 6-3, 6-2.

Also in double play, Kofi Bowe was eliminated alongside teammate Mihir Amte of the United States when they lost to Bruno Kuzuharra and Derek Raskopf of the United States 6-1, 6-0.

Bain and Kesterson will advance to the doubles semi-finals to face Odell and Roddick today.

Clarke and teammate Nicole Kiefer, the top team in the draw, were eliminated in an upset loss to Baylen Brown and Madison Smith 6-3, 2-6, 10-7.
