Strachan becomes season leading receiver

WITH his latest performance, Mike Strachan became the season leading receiver in the Mountain East Conference.

Strachan caught seven receptions for 166 yards and one touchdown in his Charleston Cougars 35-20 loss to the Findlay Oilers on Saturday.

He equalled his season high in receptions and set a new season high in receiving yards.

The redshirt sophomore wide receiver has three consecutive 100-yard receiving games, but the Golden Cougars have lost three consecutive games after starting the season 4-0.

He had a season debut of four receptions for 159 yards and one touchdown. His last three games were all 100-yard receiving games.

He had games of seven receptions for 117 yards, six receptions for 111 yards and one touchdown.

On the season, Strachan has totalled 31 receptions for 686 yards and four touchdowns.

He leads the Mountain East Conference in receiving yards and average yards per catch at 22.1.

He also ranks sixth in receptions, 10th in touchdowns and seventh in receptions per game at 4.4 catches. He continues to be a two-sport star for UC and is the defending conference champion in the 200m, 400m and 4x400m relay.
