IT took just three games for Jazz Chisholm to hit his first home run of the Arizona Fall League and display the power hitting that has been one of his trademarks all season.
Chisholm went 3-4, including his home run, with two runs scored and two RBI to lead the Salt River Rafters to a 10-9 win over the Scottsdale Scorpions on Wednesday night.
In the lead-off position, he singled on his first at-bat and was eventually plated on a pass ball as the River Rafters' only run of the inning.
In the bottom of the fifth he hit an RBI single and began the seventh with his solo home run to centre field.
The 20-year-old shortstop is hitting .429 through his three appearances thus far.
Chisholm went 2-5 in his debut against the Surprise Saguaros and followed 1-5 with two runs scored and three stolen bases against the Mesa Solar Sox.
After rising to the No.2 prospect in the Arizona Diamondbacks organisation, Chisholm detailed his transition to Fall League following an acclaimed season filled with milestones.
"It was amazing, I was speechless when they told me," Chisholm said to MLB.com on his reaction to being named to an AFL roster. "I was literally asking, 'Are you serious or are you playing with me right now?' That's amazing. I couldn't wait to get out here. They told me they expected a lot from me, and they're going to keep on expecting a lot from me, so I'm going to keep on pushing it to go."
Also in the AFL, Lucius Fox continues to excel with the Peoria Javelinas. The No.9 prospect for the Tampa Bay Rays, Fox is hitting .350 with a .905 OPS, has six RBI, scoring 11 runs with one home run and six stolen bases.
