The Anglican Diocese of the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands ordained Deacon Eric Achico Alexander Miller and Deacon Brandon Travis Fernander to the sacred priesthood yesterday at Christ Church Cathedral during the Feast of Lancelot Andrewes.

Eric was born in Nassau. His formative years were spent at Yellow Elder Primary, A F Adderley Junior High School and C R Walker School Senior High, from where he graduated in 2009. He entered the then College of the Bahamas where he obtained an Associates of Arts degree in Religion, graduating in 2012.

Upon answering the call to test his vocation, he entered Codrington College and the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill Campus), Barbados, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology in 2016, and a Diploma I Pastoral Studies. He completed the testing of his vocation at Codrington in July 2017.

Eric was ordained deacon on September 13, 2017 in his home parish of St Agnes. For the past year he has been assigned to Holy Cross Parish in New Providence as the assistant curate. He is presently the assistant curate at St Andrew's Parish in Exuma and the part-time chaplain at St Andrew's Anglican School, also in Exuma.

Eric grew up in Saint Agnes Church, New Providence, where he was involved in the church school, the altar servers and the Christian Youth Movement (CYM).

Deacon Travis Fernander was born in Nassau. He graduated from NGM Major High School in Buckleys, Long Island, in June 2009; from the University of the Bahamas with an Associate of Arts in Sociology degree in July 2014, and from the University of the West Indies with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology degree. At present, he is concluding his studies at Grand Canyon University to obtain his Master of Arts degree in Youth and Family Development in December.

Travis was ordained deacon on September 29, 2017 in his home church of St Athanasius. For the past year he was assigned to the St Matthew's Parish in New Providence as the assistant curate. He now serves as the assistant curate at the Parish of the Holy Cross in Nassau.

He grew up in St Athanasius Church, Long Island, where he was involved in many ministries and organisations. His passion is youth ministry.
