On Easter Monday, all roads will lead to the St James Anglican Church in Adelaide Village for its annual Easter festival on the church’s grounds. Each year, the Easter Monday Fest attracts people from near and far for a fun-filled day of activities. This year’s event is once again being organised by the Easter Monday Fest committee, which has been meeting since January. After receiving its mandate and terms of reference from the Vestry, the committee immediately set to plan the festival and is determined to make this year’s event one of the best ever.
The purpose of the Easter Monday Fest is to bring the parish family of St James and others together for fellowship, fun and fundraising. The committee feel that the Easter Monday holiday is the ideal time because it provides the opportunity to continue to celebrate our Lord’s resurrection from the grave. After a very intense and rigorous Lenten season of prayer and fasting for 40 days and nights, the festival is a welcome respite.
Once again, chicken, fish and rib dinners will be on offer. There is usually also pea soup, extra conchy conch fritters, hamburgers, healthy salads, homemade ice cream, cakes, pastries of all kinds and cool drinks to help beat the heat.
Proceeds from the Easter Monday Fest will go the church’s ministries and outreach programmes.
