Members the Living Faith Seventh-day Adventist Church will celebrate 31 years of existence this Sunday. The theme chosen for this event is: “A Church of Fellowship, Where People Worship and Faith Works.”

Celebrating by way of a benefit concert, the church hopes to raise $35,000 for a new community centre. Donations, which can range from $10 to $100, will be collected at the door.

“As our membership has grown immensely over the years, we have a vision to expand. A community centre would put us in a better position to serve those in our local church and community. We currently operate several ministries such as Pathfinders for our youths and also take part in community outreach, including food and clothing distribution,” said Rhonda Wilson, advertising and public relations representative at the church.

She believes once the community centre is completed, church members will be able to do much more, allowing many to receive the assistance they so desperately need.

The Living Faith Seventh-day Adventist Church, located on Old Trail Road in the Marathon constituency, was founded on April 27, 1988, by Pastor H A Roach from the Living Faith Crusade.

With a family of ministries under their umbrella, members of the church said they have developed a great love for reaching out to those in need in the various communities.

For Sunday’s benefit concert they are delighted to welcome the Georgia Cumberland Academy Choir and singer Stacy-Ann Campbell Marshall on stage.

“As times are getting tougher for everyone, our pastor, Craig W Williams, has the vision to see us expand our ministry to connect with families in need, because the struggle is real. The community centre will be known for scrumptious meals, providing tutoring, health and wellness classes, sports activities for young people, and much more. The goal of our community centre is to create a holistic approach to member and community care, addressing not only their spiritual, but also their physical, emotional and educational needs,” said Ms Wilson.

The Living Faith Seventh-day Adventist Church shares its grounds with the Bahamas Academy Early Learning Centre, and is also the point from which the shuttle bus to the Bahamas Academy main. Because of this, she said, one can’t help but be excited about the impact the new community centre will make.

Ms Wilson wants to remind people that a little goes a long way, and encouraged members to contact the church to make a donation or a pledge at telephone number 465-2433. People can also visit the church’s Facebook page at Living Faith SDA Bahamas to keep up with what’s happening and ways they can get involved.
