We need help from the US coast guards

EDITOR, The Tribune

RBDF … well no excuses now dem boys have radar…range 50 miles that is on shore of Haiti and Dominican Republic! Problem is at HMBS Coral Harbour they miss Haitian sailing sloops sailing under wind right up to their doorstep … will that change?

We hear 100,000 square miles of sovereign territory has to be policed…that ain’t true…maybe 5-6000 square miles off Haiti and Dominican Republic and to the north less than 100 square miles facing the US.

We still can’t patrol this without the constant assistance of the US Coast Guard and sailing public.

These 55 drones the government are planning to acquire? I think the Minister should advise the public of their technological capabilities before any purchase is made. Can the drones listen into cellular conversations? Clearly over flying private property they will video intruding our private space. What and why 55 drones? We know the capabilities of Israeli drones - I raise this as interesting right after the RFP was issued we saw the Minister in a photo-op with a senior Diplomat from Israel…has the Bahamas purchased super technology for spying on us? You don’t need drones to catch speeding traffic just a patrol car driving up and down 24/7…Life can be so simple and it will work.

Thanks to the thousands of moronic gang members I think all Bahamians have lost their right to privacy. I like the idea of drones hovering above Nassau 24/7 if they are used to monitor and catch our criminals. I would like to be able to call the police after being held up and immediately have 3 drones point their cameras in my direction and track every vehicle in the vicinity.
