The New Birth Church celebrated another successful community event on Good Friday with its annual Good Deeds initiative.
The church has been promoting its Good Deeds Movement for several years now in an effort to build a ministry to support the needs of the marginalised within the community.
The movement, the church said, was also created to give people the opportunity to experience what it feels like to give to those who may never be in a position to repay them.
Church members work together with various communities to offer clothing drives, hair and nail appointments, healthcare and automotive services, groceries, and more.
This year’s Good Deeds event, held in Stapleton Gardens, drew hundreds of people who all came out and enjoyed a day of togetherness in the form of a grill-out, fish fry and Easter egg hunt for the kids. Two cars were also given away as prizes.
Since 2015, the Good Deeds Movement has assisted over 5,000 families. Bruce Davis, lead pastor at New Birth Church, said members have challenged themselves to impact more lives and give more than they did in the previous year.
Going forward, he said the aim is to remind and encourage members of the community to always be a blessing to those in need.
