St John’s Particular Church of Native Baptist, which is comprised of 62 churches throughout The Bahamas, celebrated the Easter week by welcoming 33 new converts to the fold.

On Easter Sunday, at the historic St John’s Cathedral located on Meeting Street in Nassau, the Believers Baptismal Ceremony took place at 6am.

The new converts from various Native Baptist churches here in Nassau, after having completed the required instructional classes, publicly demonstrated their commitment to Jesus Christ, were officially baptised.

Rev Dr Alonzo Hinsey, assistant general superintendent and pastor emeritus of the Golden Gates Native Baptist Church, delivered a sermon to encourage the converts to continue living their lives for the Lord. Rev Dr Carrington S Pinder, bishop and general superintendent of the Native Baptist Church, charged the new converts to live a life of holiness, prayer and commitment, adhering to God’s word.

Rev Dr Anthony J Carroll, general secretary, assisted the Bishop in the water immersion exercise in the pool located behind the pulpit of the cathedral.

Family members and friends looked on as each new convert was lowered into the water to symbolise the death of their old self and then lifted up again into a new and resurrected life in Christ Jesus.
