The Bahamas has partnered with a new booking platform that generated more than $1.9m in revenues for the destination in 2018.
It has teamed with JackRabbit Systems to offer visitors a convenient booking solution, and provide direct lead generation for Bahamian hotels.
“We are excited to support the hotel industry by partnering with JackRabbit Systems to bring additional booking revenue to the islands of The Bahamas,” said Dionisio D’Aguilar, minister of tourism and aviation.
“We encourage all hotels in Nassau, Freeport and the Out Islands to register with JackRabbit so they, too, can benefit from the platform.”
The platform combines the functionality of a booking engine with the consumer preference to book directly through a hotel’s website, in a bid to generate more revenue and a higher number of repeat customers.
In 2018, JackRabbit Systems reported more than 98,000 searches on Bahamas.com, resulting in 1,159 bookings and over $1.9m in booking revenue.
The Ministry of Tourism is now encouraging hotels with booking engines to ensure their existing rates are being displayed on the JackRabbit system engine. For those hoteliers who do not have a booking solution, JackRabbit proves a free reservation system.
Travellers visiting Bahamas.com will be provided with a list of available accommodations with rates from which to choose. Upon selecting their preferred option, consumers will be redirected to the hotel’s website for direct booking. There are no commission charges or fees for room reservations facilitated by JackRabbit Systems.
