TEAM Bahamas fell just short of automatic 2020 CONCACAF Women's Under-17 Championship qualification with a second place finish in the stage.

The team suffered a 3-1 loss to Guyana yesterday as the qualifier concluded at the Ergilio Hato Stadium in Willemstad, Curacao.

Guyana won Group D and will advance.

The Bahamas opened competition on Wednesday with a 4-1 victory over St Vincent and the Grenadines.

On Friday, they defeated the hosts Curacao 3-0 in game two.

The first stage of qualifying included a series of matches spread throughout four different locations. The qualifying phase featured four groups of four teams in round-robin format, with the winner of each group advancing to the 2020 CONCACAAF Women's Under-17 Championship.

Group A took place at the Olimpico Metropolitano Stadium in San Pedro Sula, Honduras and featured hosts Honduras, plus Saint Lucia, Anguilla and Bonaire.

The Truman Bodden Sports Complex in George Town, Cayman Islands, was the site of Group B featuring the Cayman Islands, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica and Martinique.

Barbados hosted Saint Kitts and Nevis, US Virgin Islands and Belize to the Wildey Astro Turf Stadium in Wildey, Barbados in Group C.

The CONCACAF Under-17 Women's Championship is an official competition of the Confederation that serves as a qualifying event for the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup. It consists of two phases - regional qualifying (in the Caribbean and Central America) and a Championship Phase (finals).
