Jewels still shining seven years on

The Jewels Ministry recently celebrated seven years of existence with a time of wholesome fellowship and thanksgiving.

The group ministers to the lives of young girls ages 7-12 yrs. Under its umbrealla the girls have said to build a beautiful camaraderie and grown personally, especially in their spiritual lives.

To recognise it seven year journey, its founder Minister Patrice Bain organised a special day of activities at Fusion Superplex where the girls watched “Frozen 2” . Then they enjoyed the Play Room, whilst the mothers and grandmothers induced in “Girl Talk”.

The next day the group attended the Church of God of Prophecy, Carmichael Road in thanksgiving and celebration of God’s blessings on them.

A seed offering was given in anticipation of what God will do in the new year 2020.

“Expansion is expected as the programme will be taken to the community and church groups. We are about building lives and we would like to empower more young ladies walk in their purpose,” Minister Bain said.

The Ministry was birth out from a vision given to Minister Bain in July 2012 to nurture and care for young girls. Some of these girls have overcome challenges such as family difficulties, deaths and sickness as a result of her mentorship.

The group’s mission statement is to provide opportunities for young girls to utilize their gifts and talents, thus strengthening each other and to mentor and encourage girls to walk in their purpose.

Mrs Bain said she is encouraged to see to finally see the seeds she planted almost seven years ago bare such “amazing fruit”.

The first group of girls are now sixteen years old and are on their way to greatness. Some names are Zaylee Thompson, Mandia Roberts and Annissa Johnson and Lyneisha Fowler. They assist in mentoring the girls from time to time and are dear to her heart.

Jewels travelled to Harbour Island in July of this year and endeavour to host future family island trips to increase awareness of our islands and the beauty that exist in each of them.

“Next year we hope to visit Andros, which is our largest island. We also plan to host a Girl’s Conference and Workshop,” she said.

Jewels meet monthly on the third Saturday and Sunday of each month.
