Bahamian athletes produced several top finishes, season’s bests and personal bests to highlight the indoor circuit of NCAA Division I Track and Field over the weekend.

Laquan Nairn was one of the top performers for the Arkansas Razorbacks at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.

Nairn took first place in the men’s long jump, finishing with a season-best jump of 7.66m (25ft 1.75in).

“I was really happy to see Laquan [Nairn] getting more and more consistent on the runway. I think that’s one of the things in the horizontal jumps with these elevated runways, getting the timing down in a competition setting is important,” said Razorbacks assistant coach Mario Sategna.

Purdue Boilermakers Tamar Greene and Samson Colebrooke also turned in impressive performances at the Fred Wilt Invitational.

Greene took first place in the Men’s long jump with a personal best of 7.21m (23ft 8in). The sophomore jumper led a Boilermaker sweep atop the podium in the event.

Colebrooke continues to excel in his first year with the programme. The junior transfer took third place in the men’s 60m with a time of 6.75 secs.

In the final home meet of the Purdue track and field season, the Boilermakers accumulated 41 top-3 finishes, including 14 first-place wins.

Competing at the “Doc Hale” Elite Meet University of Miami Celine Thompson won the women’s high jump with a personal best mark of 1.74m, clearing the mark on her first attempt.

Thompson’s was one of the team’s six personal best marks on the final day of the meet.

Kentucky Wildcats freshman sprinter Devine Parker finished third in the women’s 200m and set a new season’s best time of 24.07 secs at the Rod McCravy Memorial.

She also finished eighth overall in the 60m in 7.58 secs.

Oral Roberts University teammates Sasha Wells and Brad Dormeus competed at the JD Martin Invitational in Oklahoma.

Wells turned in the top 60 meter hurdles time in the Summit League this season. She ran 8.55 secs in both the prelims and the finals en route to winning first place. It was the sophomore’s third win in four meets this season.

Dormeus, the freshman quartermiler, took first place in the 400m in a personal best time of 48.58 secs.

Indiana Hoosiers jumper Jyles Etienne had another top three finish in the high jump at the Power Five Invite hosted at the University of Michigan.

Etienne took second place with a clearing of 2.08m.

North Dakota State sophomore Daejha Moss won the women’s 60m dash title at the Bison Open. Her time of 7.70 secs in the prelims ranked No.9 in North Dakota State history.

Western Illinois jumper Amelia Peterson competed at the Don DeNoon Invitational in Illinois.

She won the triple jump with a mark of 11.34m (37ft 2.5in) in the triple jump.
