TWO persons were arrested and taken into custody in Abaco after police discovered 60 potted marijuana plants this week.

According to reports, shortly after 1pm police and immigration officers, acting on information, went to an area off Ernest Dean Highway where they found a number of stolen items, and 10 pots of suspected marijuana plants, about one to three feet in height.

ASP Terecita Pinder reported that the officers arrested a 46-year-old Jamaican woman who was discovered in the area.

She said that a short time later, during a further search of the area, officers discovered 50 marijuana plants about one to four feet in height. As a result, police arrested a 44-year-old Bahamian man of Dundas Town who was also found in the area.

According to ASP Pinder, the plants have an estimated street value of $30,000. Investigations are continuing into the matter.

Govt wasting our VAT money, as usual. I guess on the bright side we can be grateful there are no real criminals in Abaco to be chased - giving police the luxury time to arrest farmers.

It's past time for this stupid marijuana law to be changed. Numbers houses fine, farming not! What the police going to do with the pot plants???? Share them up and put in their own gardens?

They should arrest God for manufacturing them. Charge Him with production of dangerous drugs. Yeah, that's a good idea. In fact that sounds so stupid it's just the kind of thing a government would try to do.
