The PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) affiliates in the Caribbean are launching an internal training programme to boost the skills of employees.
The accounting firm’s intermediate to advanced skills-building initiative, called Digital Accelerators, will equip staff to transform the way they work by using more effective and efficient tools and working practices. PwC says its workforce will be upskilled on everything from data analytics and automation to machine learning and blockchain.
Trishia Ogilvie, learning and development leader for PwC affiliates in the Caribbean, said: “The Digital Accelerator programme is a key part of our internal digital upskilling strategy to provide our people working most closely with our clients with the tools and resources they need to drive innovation on the ground.”
PwC said it has invested heavily in new technologies, and she added: “Our clients are looking for us to provide greater insights and value, which we believe can be achieved by increasing our digital aptitude.
“Through the Digital Accelerator programme our people will develop their skills in critical areas and work on projects that will bring cutting-edge technology to our clients to help them solve important problems.”
The initiative’s first phase will focus on data and analytics, before moving on to automation, cybersecurity and training on new technologies.
Frazer Lindsay, chief executive of PwC Caribbean Region Ltd, said: “One of the biggest challenges facing businesses and governments across the world is finding the right talent. Our clients are focused on how they can transform, remain relevant and attract talent in a disruptive environment.
“It is critically important, therefore, that we are able to future proof our workforce by providing the technology and skills needed to remain competitive and responsive to the needs of our clients in an ever-changing digital landscape.”
The Digital Accelerator programme follows the earlier launch of the Digital Fitness App, a tool that measures an individual’s digital abilities and then allows them to grow through bite-sized learning solutions.
