THE New Providence (Wholesalers) Modified Pitch Softball League saw action over at the Blue Hills Sporting Complex.
Airborne Freight Stallions 17, Hitmen 5: Short Stop Alcott Forbes went 3-for-4, scored three runs, drove in three runs and added a homer as the Airbourne Freight were no match for the Hitmen.
Brad Wood Jr and Marc Taylor both went 2-for-2, scoring two runs each and drove in one run each.
For the losing team, Alex Collie went 2-2, scored two runs and drove one run.
The Mighty Mitts and the Young Boyz could not field a team.
The Mighty Mitts were a no show for their first game but showed up to face the Hitmen.
Hitmen 19, Mighty Mitts 8: In a four-inning game, the Hitmen relied on Ken Wood Jr’s 3-for-4 day with three runs scored and two RBIs. Alcott Forbes was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs with two home runs.
Mighty Mitts 21, Undertakers 12: In five innings, the Undertaker’s pitcher Jamal Nairn couldn’t solve catcher Kenneth Curry’s 4-for-4 outing. Centre fielder Junel Bain got their hits in all four at-bats for the visiting team Mighty Mitts. Bain had three home runs. Steffan McKenzie and Christopher McPhee both went 3-for-5 with McKenzie scoring four runs, while McPhee scored two runs and drove in three runs.
Hitmen 22, USS Truckers 15: In the game between the Hitmen and the USS Truckers, there was a total of 12 home runs. In the top of the 5th inning, the Truckers had to forfeit the game due to the centre fielder pulling a leg muscle and no replacement.
Eugene Bain went 4-for-5 with four runs scored, 10 RBIs and four home runs, one being a grand slam.
