More than 100 tour operators, airline executives and hotel representatives gathered at Atlantis last week to kick-off the 2019 International Travel Partners Conference.
Dionisio D’Aguilar, minister of tourism and aviation, revisited results and statistics that made 2018 a record-breaking arrivals year for The Bahamas during the event, which was hosted by the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board.
Visitor arrivals reached an all-time high of 6.6 m last, up from 6.1 million in 2017, leading the Caribbean Journal to name The Bahamas the Destination of the Year, and Mr D’Aguilar as the Caribbean Tourism Minister of the Year.
Destination updates were also given by Nassau/Paradise Island Promotion Board chief executive, Fred Lounsberry, and Mikala Moss, the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation’s area manager.
Besides sharing 2018 highlights, Mr Lounsberry gave early 2019 results that indicated a strong start for The Bahamas while providing updates on new airlift, new hotel product and new island developments.
“We’re thrilled to see such a great response to our annual event and have the opportunity to showcase our beautiful destination to global travel partners,” said Mr Lounsberry.
“We’re anticipating another strong year ahead and are excited to continue the momentum of 2018. With our increased airlift, new hotel product and our amazing travel partners and member hotels, we feel confident that Nassau/Paradise Island will remain a leading vacation destination in 2019 and beyond.”
