MODEL Jordyn Woods, the 21-year-old best friend of make-up mogul Kylie Jenner, has found herself in the midst of a scandal that has grabbed worldwide attention. She has trended on Twitter, become the subject of countless memes and been the hottest topic of every celebrity blog and talk show.
And all because she apparently kissed NBA player Tristan Thompson at a party. Tristan is dating and shares a child with Khloe Kardashian, Kylie’s older sister.
While speculation is rife that this is all an elaborate publicity stunt by the Kardashian/Jenner clan to gain more traction for the upcoming season of their popular reality show E! “Keeping Up with The Kardashians”, people are still taking sides as the drama continues to play out on social media.
Jordyn broke her silence last week when she took a seat at Jada Pinkett-Smith’s “Red Table”, a social media talk show that airs on Facebook.
During the show, Jordyn admitted to kissing Tristan, but denied having any sexual encounters with the basketball star (although big-name social media influencers are alleging otherwise).
According to Jordyn, she along with a few friends continued their night of revelry at Tristan’s house after the other party guests had left, but did not stop to think how her presence at his house may have been viewed by the Kardashians.
“I didn’t think how I would feel if someone close to me is hanging out at my ex’s house or the father of my child,” she said. She admitted this was “poor judgement” on her part.
Jordyn said before leaving, Tristan gave her a kiss.
“It was a kiss on the lips, no tongue kiss, no making out,” she said. “I don’t think he’s wrong either because I allowed myself to be in that position,” she told Jada.
“I should have gone home after the party, I shouldn’t have been there,” she said. “Never once was I giving him a lap dance, making out with him, sitting on him ... never once did we leave the public area, go to a bedroom.”
Throughout the interview, Jordyn was apologetic and remorseful over her actions and the fact that it has driven a wedge between her and the Kardashian/Jenner clan, with whom she has been extremely close for many years; she has even been living with Khloe’s sister Kylie.
Since the “Red Table Talk”, people have been spending hours online debating whether the relationship between Jordyn and the Kardashian sisters can be salvaged or whether Jordyn committed an unpardonable sin; broken the “girl/friendship code”.
Tribune Woman asked Bahamian women who have been closely following all the drama to weigh in and give their take on the situation.
“First of all, all sins are forgivable through God. And if they are forgivable through God, then who are the Kardashians really,” said Dominique, a long-time follower of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
“Let’s put all of this into perspective. Jordyn made a mistake as a friend of the family, a huge and distasteful mistake, but as a human being, mistakes happen. The Kardashians are not her God, if she has done all she can in apologising to them, and is also asking God to forgive her, then she should now be at peace and move on. There is nothing she can do if they choose to cut her off. It would be their right because she was wrong. In a perfect world, it would all be forgotten and they wouldn’t hold it against her, but we do not live in that kind of world. The best thing for her to do now is to not expect anything from them and move on.”
Alia said in her view, even if salvaged, the relationhip can never be the same.
“While Jordyn’s sin is forgivable, it’s not something you can easily forget. On top of not being able to trust her again, I don’t think I would be able to look at her in the same light ever again. Every girl knows, or at least should know, that there are certain girl codes you just don’t break. And fooling around with the boyfriend or even baby’s father of your best friend’s sister is definitely one of those codes you should not to break. And if we’ve been friends for 10 plus years, you should definitely know better than to hurt me or the ones I love. So, for my peace of mind and for hers, I would sit down with her to hear her side of the story, give her my input on the situation and then peacefully end the relationship,” she said.
Tamika added: “I mean, really Jordyn was naive, but give me a break. Tristan has always been a cheater and will continue to cheat. In my opinion he committed an unforgivable mistake, not Jordyn. It’s one thing for someone to cheat on you, but cheat on you with someone that you know and had a close relationship with is a whole other level of being savage.”
More of an optimist, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” mega fan Alicia said she thinks there is still hope.
“Reconciliation will take time, but it certainly became a possibility because Jordyn was woman enough to take ownership of the part she played, expressed her apology and regret. She truly did the grown woman thing,” said Alicia.
