Health coach Ethan Quant, of Elite Wellness Solutions, has succeeded in his weight loss journey and now wants to share his methods with the Bahamas in an effort to foster a culture of wellness and conquer the obesity epidemic.
We often set out with good intentions to get healthy and fit, but the fact is that sometimes life happens and we get thrown off the proverbial wagon. I know that was the case with me as I struggled with my weight for years. However, on my journey I discovered a very important step in my planning process that made it possible not only to stay on track with my health wellness and fitness goals, but to navigate the process with confidence.
The thing is that there will always be barriers to change, whether perceived or real, no matter which it is, these can stop us in our tracks and prevent us from being successful.
Perceived barriers are those things that on the surface seems to be impossible to get around but with some change in perspective we can work around them. The most common of these barriers are time and money. People often tell me that they don’t have enough time to work out or meal prep or they don’t have enough money to get a trainer or eating healthy is expensive.
The reason I say that these are perceived barriers are because normally with a little guidance my clients can see how to overcome them. The funny thing is that they already know the answer to their problems, they just need a bit of help uncovering it.
Real barriers are things like an injury or medical condition that affects your daily life. Yet even with real barriers there are ways that you can overcome them, it just requires sometimes for us to be a bit more creative.
I have found that the best way to deal with barriers is to address them head on during the planning stages of your journey. Right after you set your goals, the next question you should ask yourself is what can possibly prevent me from accomplishing these goals. Remember you are the expert in your life, so you know what challenges you have, so that also means you know the best way that you can address them.
Listing possible barriers to change and identifying ways to overcome them before you even start puts you in a powerful position. Because not only do you know that life is going to throw you curveballs, but you also have a game plan to address them once they do come up.
