NPBA Division I: Rockets advance to Final Four

THE Discount Distribution Rockets completed the New Providence Basketball Association’s Division I Final Four.

The Rockets closed out their quarter-final series 2-1 with a 92-85 win over the Leno Regulators at the AF Adderley Gymnasium.

Georgio Walkes led the Rockets with 15 points, Cordero Pinder had a double double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, Tomeko Moxey scored 11, Lerecus Armbrister scored 13 and Dominique Beadle had 11 rebounds. Kenneth Pratt led the Regulators with 17 points, Renardo Baillou scored 14 with a game high 16 rebounds and Cruz Simon scored 13.

The Rockets outscored the Regulators 28-11 in the second quarter to pull ahead for good and dominated the second half to close out the series.

The Regulators took an early lead in the first quarter and went ahead 20-12 with 1:50 left to play on a Hakeem Walkes layup. They ended the period with a 22-17 lead.

The Rockets opened the quarter on a 6-0 run to take their first lead of the game on a Pinder layup. Leading 29-28, the Rockets went on an 11-2 run capped by a David Taylor layup for a 42-30 lead.

The Rockets led 45-33 at the half and took a 65-58 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Rockets will advance to face the PJ Stingers in one half of the bracket while the Commonwealth Bank Giants will face the University of the Bahamas Mingoes in the other semi-final.

The Giants and Mingoes will tip off tonight at 7:30pm followed by the Stingers and Rockets at 8:30pm at the AF Adderley Gymnasium.
