WESTERN AIR yesterday confirmed that international growth remains in its sights after commencing the expansion of domestic services.

Sherrexcia “Rexy” Rolle, the Bahamian airline’s vice-president of operations and general counsel, told Tribune Business that the airline expects delivery of its fourth Embraer ERJ 145 LR jet at “the beginning of the second quarter” this year.

The company had announced last summer that it was upgrading its fleet with the addition of the 50-seat Embraer 145 jets, with domestic expansion in its sights as well as multiple destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America.

“It’s still on the table,” Ms Rolle added of international growth. “We actually did introduce new routes domestically. We go to Exuma, which is a new route that started in December of last year. We go to Marsh Harbour, which started in December, and we go to Cat Island in the Saab, but it all started in December of last year. We have expanded to different routes locally, and internationally we are still currently working on those.”
