A 27-year-old police constable was arraigned in a Magistrate’s Court yesterday over allegations of unlawful sex with a minor.
Patrick Taylor, of Godet Avenue off Carmichael Road, appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney, facing one count of unlawful sexual intercourse.
It is alleged that between February 1 and March 21 Taylor had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl. He was not required to enter a plea to the charge and the matter was adjourned to July 12 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment.
However, he has the right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail in the interim.
As Taylor is a police officer, his attorney Ian Cargill requested he not be placed in general population at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
Magistrate McKinney said this request will be forwarded to the commissioner of BCDS.
