MINISTER of Youth, Sports and Culture Lanisha Rolle (right) announced the launch of National Sports Month at the ministry’s head office on October 31.
Among those joining her from her ministry were David Cates, permanent secretary, under secretaries Renee Bullard (acting) and Montez Williams, director of sports Timothy Munnings and chief sports and recreation officer Oria Knowles.
The audience consisted of a number of representatives of various sports federations, athletes and sports stakeholders.
The month is slated to include events such as the National Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the National Sports Awards, health and wellness initiatives, the re-opening of the South Beach Swimming Complex and the launch of Swim Bahamas - a national learn-to-swim programme.
