The New Providence Softball Association’s ladies champions Sunshine Auto Wildcats didn’t get to play for another Bahamas Softball Federation National Championship title.
But they gladly embraced the opportunity to be crowned the champions of the BSF’s All-Star Classic that was held over the weekend as a fundraiser for their affiliated member associations in Abaco and Grand Bahama.
The Wildcats, with a few additional players from Grand Bahama, pulled off a 9-6 win for New Providence over Abaco, comprising mainly of players from the NPSA’s runners-up Inventive Intellect Lady Warriors, in the championship game last night in the Banker’s Field at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex.
The men’s series was a showdown between the New Providence runners-up Commando Security Truckers and the Eleuthera All-Stars in the late game. However, the final score was not available up to press time.
The NPSA champions CS Hitmen opted not to participate in the tournament.

“It was a good game. We’re just happy that we got the opportunity to win the title,” said New Providence’s shortstop Larikah Russell. “The Abaco team played well. But we really wanted to win this one too.”
