MIKE Strachan continues his streak of standout performances for the Charleston Golden Eagles and capped off an historic regular season in the finale.
Strachan finished with three receptions for 128 yards and a touchdown in the Golden Eagles’ 34-26 win over West Liberty at West Family Stadium in West Virginia on Saturday.
Strachan’s 46-yard touchdown haul with 4:29 left in the first quarter was the game’s first score and Charleston was off to a 24-6 lead at the half en route to the win.
The redshirt junior wideout had a record-breaking regular season for the Golden Eagles. He finished with 78 receptions for 1,319 yards and 19 touchdowns. He set new school records, led the Mountain East Conference in each category and was second in all of DII in both receiving yards and touchdowns.
Strachan caught touchdown passes in 10 of 11 games this season, including six multi-touchdown games.
He opened the season with nine receptions, 157 yards and two touchdowns against FAIR.
He followed with a career high 13 receptions, 146 yards and a touchdown against Urbana. He caught eight passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns against WVWC and followed with his only game this season without a score - five catches and 61 yards against FBS Division I Valparaiso.
He rebounded with a pair of record-setting weeks. Strachan caught eight passes for 87 yards and a career high three touchdowns against Wheeling. Against Notre Dame College, he posted 12 receptions for a career high 207 yards and two touchdowns.
The Golden Eagles finished the regular season 8-3, second in the conference behind Notre Dame College at 10-1.
