BFM explores strategies to reach the youth

Bahamas Faith Ministries (BFM) is exploring different avenues to improve the relationship between the church as an institution and the country’s youth, and looking at ways of teaching religion leaders how to bring the younger generation back into the fold.

To this end, BFM hosted its annual Emerge Youth Church Youth Leadership Training Seminar last week, hosted by Youth Pastor E Corey Rolle.

The purpose of the seminar was to help leaders and aspiring leaders to develop new skills to attract and to understand the importance of mentoring the next generation. Speakers included Senior Pastor of BFM Dr Dave Burrows who spoke on the subject of “What every youth leader should know”; Youth Pastor E Corey Rolle, whose topic was “Strategies for reaching this generation”, and Pastor Shaquille Hanna who asked “Why youth seem to not be interested in church”.

Meanwhile, Minister Ricardo Clarke gave pointers on “Identifying when your organisation is a victim of its past success”, and Deangelo Rolle – the final speakers – talked about “Developing an effective youth ministry in a digital age”. The seminar ended with each attendee receiving a certificate of participation.

BFM declared the seminar a success and promises the 2020 Youth Leadership Seminar will be even bigger and better.
