TEAM Bahamas won their second consecutive CONCACAF Nations League match, this time on the road.
The Bahamas blanked the British Virgin Islands, 4-0 last night at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis.
Lesly St Fleur scored a pair of goals (37’, 49’), Happy Hall (55’) added the third and Quinton Carey (81’) scored the final goal late to cap the scoring.
Not much activity for either keeper in the first half with just four shots on goal between both teams, three of which came from the Bahamas, who also controlled the time of possession for much of the half.
Whylly got his first save in goal when he deflected a shot from BVI’s Bailey Rowe. The Bahamas would get their first shot opportunity moments later but St Fleur’s attempt was blocked by keeper Ben Chapman.
BVI’s Jerry Wiltshire committed a foul on St Fleur who went on to convert the penalty kick to give the Bahamas a 1-0 lead that they took into the half.
The Bahamas dominated the second half and tacked on to their lead with the three-goal margin.
St Fleur scored his second goal shortly after the start of the second as the momentum for the Bahamians continued out of the break.
The Bahamas improved to 2-0 in League C, Group B. This was the first of two home matches for BVI still looking for their first win heading into the second half of the schedule.
Bonaire previously defeated BVI 4-2. The Bahamas has defeated both teams after their 2-1 win over Bonaire at the Thomas A Robinson Stadium in September.
Group B play continues in November when the Bahamas hosts BVI on November 14. They travel to face Bonaire in the second game of a home-and-away on November 17.
