This coming National Heroes Day all roads will lead to the historic village of Adelaide where the Anglican Church Men of Saint James Parish will be hosting their 14th Annual Father R F Anthony Roberts' King of the Grill Fest and Competition.
The event climaxes with a Junkanoo Rush Out and will be held from 12pm- 6pm on the church's grounds.
The ACM of Saint James in its commitment to National Development and Community Outreach has held this major fundraiser every year since 2005.
The event is named in honour of Father R.F Anthony Roberts former Assistant Priest at Saint James. It was Father Roberts' vision to invite the different branches of the ACM to come together for a cooking competition to see who was the best. Before this could be realized Father Roberts passed away. The ACM of Saint James under the leadership of Julius Cox took up the challenge and felt that it was only fitting the competition be named in his honour.
As the ACM hopes to positively impact the Adelaide Community and surrounding areas all funds raised will be utilized in its ongoing program to continue to assist the community of Adelaide, the church environment and a number of other charitable organizations.
The event also promotes a time of fellowship and fun. It enables various branches of the ACM and many other people to come together for good clean fun.
While there is much to anticipate the highlight of the day will be the cooking competition between the various ACM Branches in New Providence.
The defending Champs is Holy Cross Anglican Church ACM. In order to ensure fairness and that a very high standard is maintained, Chef Addimae Farrington of the College Of the Bahamas' Hotel Training Division and three certified chefs will act as judges.
The competition will begin at 3pm sharp. Each team will be judged by a point system on punctuality, prevention, test, ingredient compatibility.
The current champion is Holy Cross Anglican Church ACM.
