WORLD champion Steven Gardiner and silver medallists Shaunae Miller-Uibo and her husband, Maicel, visited the Albany Academy on Wednesday where they spent time with the students.
Principal Lisa McCartney took the three athletes, who were accompanied by Bahamas Olympic Committee secretary-general Derron Donaldson, on a tour of the school.
The trio made the stop to the school on their return home from the 17th IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar.
It was one of the few visits as a part of their celebrations that is being organised by the BOC.
Gardiner won the men’s 400m title in Doha on October 4 in a Bahamian national record-breaking time of 43.48 seconds, while Miller-Uibo had to settle for the silver on October 3 in a Bahamian national and NACAC Area record time of 48.37.
Uibo, on the other hand, competed for Estonia in the men’s decathlon.
He made sure that he joined his wife on the podium when he finished with a personal best of 8,604 points for his silver at the end of the two-day 10-event competition on October 3 as well.
Yesterday, the trio took a trip to Eleuthera.
