A juvenile was charged in the Freeport Magistrate's Court yesterday with possession of an unlicensed firearm and violation of curfew.
The 16-year-old male appeared before Magistrate Charlton Smith in Court, where he was not required to enter a plea to the charges. The matter will be heard before the Juvenile Panel on May 7.
Bail was denied and the minor was remanded to the Simpson Penn School for Boys in New Providence.
In relation to the juvenile, a 54-year-old woman was charged with accessory after the fact. She pleaded not guilty and was granted $2,000 bail with one surety. The matter was adjourned to June 2, 2020 for trial.
In other court matters, five men were charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and causing damage.
Kevin Williams, 21, of No 23 Independence Avenue; Gary Knowles, 33, of No 23 Spinney Road; and Ellswoth Williams,22, of No 64 Frobisher Drive; and Dillion Williams, 24, of No 56 Oleander Street; appeared before Magistrate Charlton Smith in Court Two. The men pleaded not guilty to the charges and were remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until June 2.
In a separate matter, Cordeiko Clarke, 28, was charged with four counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded until June 15 for trial.
