Bahamian entrepreneur Malikah Pinder said now is a better time than ever for creatives to share more of their works.

Malikah describes herself best as an actress who have always been very animated. She launched her voiceover services under her brand, Spring Arts. She says having parents who have always made sure she practiced speaking proper English makes for a great voiceover artist.

“I say start now. Start producing content, start putting your ideas out there. You never know where it can take you. Spring Arts started with a mere idea that God gave me. I think now, more than ever, during this period of “social distancing”, God wants to download a lot into the minds and hearts of the creatives who draw near to Him for direction. After all, God is the ultimate creative. And guess what? We have more than enough time to get it done right now,” said Malikah.

Spring Arts is known as a performing arts enterprise, specialising in entertainment and education through live performances, creative arts training, and media for all ages.

She said performances were “mainly in the form of singing telegrams, which we especially offer for occasions like birthdays, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and more”.

She added: “Our performances also include singing at special events such as weddings, funerals, banquets, etc. As for media, we have been providing both jingles and voiceovers to a wide range of clientele, some of which you may have heard playing on the radio as advertisements.

“Our training portion usually comes alive in the summertime when students are off from school. We provide a Performing Arts Camp for students to come and cultivate their singing and acting abilities. It is highly anticipated each year.

“This year, since it is year five for us, we are doing things a bit differently. Each year, our campers culminate their week of performing arts training with a stage production. Stay tuned for this year’s big upgrade.”

Malikah said when she’s commissioned to complete a voiceover, she usually interviews the client to get an idea of what they want, then she completes a script and confirms it with the client. She would usually need several takes to get the recording right as she’s a perfectionist. But in the end, she says clients are always pleased with the final product.

“I send over several samples, all comprised of a different background instrumental to choose from. To date, I have done voiceovers for advertisements, PSAs, video narration, and audio stories for many different types of businesses. The main benefit of having information being carried by way of a voiceover is the sad reality that many people do not like to read. Even though reading is necessary, it is still beneficial to consider other modes of transportation for your information, if only for the sake of diversity and excitement, for the ones who are bored easily - like me,” said Malikah.

As the year continues, Malikah’s goal is to form a non-profit aspect of Spring Arts to serve the community more. She would also like to partner with non-profit organisations on the island of Eleuthera to have a greater impact on the community at large.

“I also plan to relaunch one of the branches of Spring Arts called I Do Lyrics, which focuses solely on customising wedding songs. I have already began the process of recording music. This year started out really rough, I think, for just about everyone. We were all anticipating so many great things and with everything that’s happened so far and all that’s currently going on in the world, it is so easy to fall into hopelessness. But I want to encourage anyone reading this article, that it’s not over yet. This year, 2020, still has the potential to be the most amazing year yet. I am still looking forward to the future, and you should, too,” said Malika.
