A 23-year-old man who broke a window at the mother of his child’s home during an argument was bound to keep the peace for one year.
Police arrested Carlton Newry after he caused $412 worth of damage to his child’s mother’s window on September 15.
He pleaded guilty to one count of damage during a hearing before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.
The prosecution said around 4.30am, Newry came to the woman’s residence and damaged her front glass window. As a result of her complaint, the accused was arrested. In an interview with police at the Wulff Road police station he admitted to the offence.
He said that morning, he stood outside of his “baby mother’s” house where they had a heated argument through the window. He said when she attempted to close the window, he pulled on it in an attempt to get her to stop, but ended up damaging the window.
During the hearing, Newry told the magistrate that he had already paid for the window’s repair. As a result, Magistrate Mckinney bound him over to keep the peace for one year. He warned him that if he didn’t, he would be fined $500 or risk spending three months behind bars.
