On seeing the officers, the man ran. Ms Pinder said officers chased the male suspect, who was observed allegedly throwing an object into the bushes.
The suspect escaped, but officers were able to recover an AK-47 assault rifle with one magazine containing 23 live rounds of ammunition, along with a clear plastic bag containing suspected marijuana.
