The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) has aided a number of community organisations to enable them to provide assistance to Bahamians in need.
The organisations receiving BTC's assistance include the South Andros Senior Citizens Home, Great Commission Ministries and the Sister/Sister Breast Cancer Support Group.
Garfield 'Garry' Sinclair, BTC's chief executive, said: “BTC is inextricably bound up with the Bahamian people, so giving back is simply a natural part of who we are and what we do. This year continues to be challenging for so many, so we will continue to give back to our communities precisely when they need us most.
"This Thanksgiving, we were happy to provide donations to the South Andros Senior Citizens Home, Great Commission Ministries and the Sister/Sister Breast Cancer Support Group.”
The South Andros Senior Citizens home provides care for elderly persons from across the country. Rev. J.W. Pratt, the home's president, said: “Many thanks goes to BTC, an exceptional company who has supported the South Andros Senior Citizens home over the years. We appreciate all that BTC continues to do. Your thoughtfulness is a gift that we will always treasure.”
Andrea Sweeting, the Sister/Sister Breast Cancer Support Group's president, said: “We extend a gracious thank you to BTC for your donation, which will assist us with continuing to provide portacaths for those who are unable to purchase devices to begin their treatment. Because of your generosity, we are able to assist our community.”
Bishop Walter Hanchell, chairman of Great Commission Ministries, added: "Your continued contributions are timely and allow us to assist many persons who have lost their jobs and are experiencing extreme financial challenges due to the pandemic.
"We are grateful to BTC for its partnership in our various feeding programmes. We serve over 300 meals each day, which includes delivery to the shut-in and distribution of food packages.”
