Atlantis yesterday unveiled the next stage in its COVID-19 re-opening plans by confirming the 600-suite The Cove resort will be receiving guests from February 2021.
The mega resort also revealed that it has teamed with fellow Paradise Island resorts, The Ocean Club and Comfort Suites, plus the Ocean Club Golf Course to create an expanded Paradise Island Safe Zone.
Effectively an extension of the so-called COVID-19 "bubble" concept, which is designed to mitigate the risk posed to guests, staff and Paradise Island residents, Atlantis described the zone as an "enhanced screened area".
"Registered guests of the Paradise Island safe zone properties will have access to all three properties' dining options, retail shops, spa, golf, Marina Village, Atlantis casino, and more, and sanitized transportation provided to all venues," Atlantis said.
"Guests of the safe zone properties are not required to take The Bahamas’ day five COVID-19 rapid antigen test if they remain in the Paradise Island Safe Zone for their vacation duration."
An Atlantis spokesperson was yesterday unable to confirm how many additional employees will be recalled to man The Cove and join the 2,500 brought back to work last week, but confirmation of the resort's expanded opening will give a further confidence boost to the wider Bahamian tourism industry that the sector's re-opening can be sustained.
"We are thrilled to be reopening The Cove Atlantis and re-introducing this elegant, sensorial retreat to our returning guests as well as new guests," said Audrey Oswell, Atlantis' president and managing director.
"Those looking for a redefined luxury getaway complete with white-glove Bahamian service, exclusive amenities, suite accommodations with breathtaking ocean views, private beach access, and a true oasis to relax and reconnect with their loved ones will find it all at The Cove.
"We look forward to debuting upgrades and experiences in the months ahead so guests can create new once-in-a-lifetime memories and immerse themselves in our authentic Bahamian culture.”
