THE first annual Harbour Island junior tennis tournament was held this weekend.

The winners of the following categories were as follows:

• Boys 16 and under singles - BJ Bullard def. Desron Gray.

• Boys 16 and under doubles - BJ Bullard and Desron Gray def. Nathan Jimenez and Rackai Symonette.

• Boys 12 and under Singles - Nathan Jimenez and Rackai Symonette are tied 1 all and will resume today to determine the winner after a match tiebreaker.

• Boys 12 and under doubles - Rackai Symonette and Nathan Jimenez d Ellis Culmer and Austin Knowles Jr.

• Girls singles - Andrielle Gardner def. Nora Rise-Ward.

• Girls Doubles - Andrielle Gardner and Aretha Culmer def. Aisha Percent and Nora Rise-Ward.

• Coach’s Challenge - Nicholas Posner def. Ayai Bethel.

The sponsors for the event were Rickey Mackey, MP for North Eleuthera, Ocean View Resort, Coral Sands Resort, South Bar Development, Paul King, Sip Sip Restaurant, Tracy Posner, Chacora Lumber and Captain Bob. Tournament directors were Artie Johnson and Dwight Stewart.

The BLTA congratulates the organisers and participants of the tourney which featured some new and upcoming tennis athletes.

The event was well supported and a good success. Organisers say they look forward to the next one.
