A 26-year-old man was charged with attempted murder yesterday.
Derinardo Mott appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney after he was accused of trying to kill Antoine Williamson on June 17.
According to initial police reports, shortly before 6pm that evening, a man and a woman were sitting outside a residence in the Fox Hill area. Police said when a white Honda Fit drove past them, a male exited the vehicle and opened fire in their direction injuring the man. The victim was transported to hospital for medical treatment.
During the hearing, Mott was also charged with being in possession of a handgun which the prosecution alleged he was going to use to endanger the life of Kendesha Rolle on June 17.
Mott was not required to enter a plea to any of the charges and the matters were adjourned to September 4 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).
Yesterday, Mott was also accused of stealing a 2002 HondaFit on June 15. He denied the allegation and the matter was also adjourned to September 4 for trial.
Bail was denied and he was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
Mott, who is represented by attorney Ian Cargill, has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
