THE University of the Bahamas Mingoes have signed Queen’s College sprinter Paige Stuart for the upcoming fall semester.

“We are excited that Paige decided to join The Mingoes track programme,” said UB Track and Field head coach Ednal Rolle. “She’s a proven sprinter and we hope to develop her into one of the top sprinters in the country.”

Stuart won the silver medal at the 2020 BAISS Track and Field Championships in the 100m in 12.79 seconds and the 200m in 25.97 seconds.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity,” said Stuart, who intends to major in biology and chemistry. “I expect great things in the programme. I know I have to work on my endurance and consistency and I feel I will get it here.”

She said choosing to become a part of the Mingoes family was an easy decision. “UB has a great programme and a great coach.”

Coach Rolle added that he sees Stuart as a great addition to the programme and hopes to continue to strengthen the programme.

“Paige has shown her potential on the track and all we want to do is take her to the next level in terms of her technique and achievement,” he said.

The Mingoes compete in 11 disciplines, including: men’s and women’s track and field indoor/outdoor, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, women’s volleyball, women’s softball, men’s basketball, men’s soccer and men’s and women’s judo.
