A Bahamian attorney has won the Society of Trust Estate Practitioners (STEP) Excellence Award after achieving a world-leading score in its exam.
Nateisha Bain, a real estate attorney with Lennox Paton, obtained 2019's highest score across in passing the STEP Advanced Certificate in Trust Creation: Law and Practice examination.
"Completing the STEP Advanced Certificate in Trust Creation: Law & Practice course has been extremely beneficial. To be recognised as the top student in the world for my performance in the examination is an amazing accomplishment and I am truly honoured," said Ms Bain.
STEP, the professional association for the trust and estate management profession worldwide, said winners of its Excellence Awards "represent the best and brightest practitioners - many of whom will be names to watch out for in the years ahead".
Ms Bain gained an AA in Law and Criminal Justice from the former College of The Bahamas in 2009, and subsequently an LL.B from the University of Manchester in the UK in 2012.
She completed the Bar Professional Training Course at the University of Law in the UK in 2013, and was subsequently called to the Bar of England and Wales and the Bar of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas in the same year.
Ms Bain joined Lennox Paton in 2013, and specialises in representing real estate purchasers and vendors, as well as handling mortgage financing transactions.
She also deals with resort and condominium development, including acquisition, financing, regulatory approvals, master planning, sales programmes and Heads of Agreements. Her practice extends to private client, corporate, commercial, estate planning and residency matters.
